Ace musician Rex Owusu Marfo known in showbiz circles as Rex Omar has asserted that his songs will stand the test of time when he passes on.
“Whatever song I have released in the past and now will still stand the test of time when I’m no more so that the future generation will benefit from my career” Rex added.
The former member of the NACOREX Group told Mike 2, host of Adom FM’s Entertainment Hall Saturday that his new song “Papa” was not necessarily composed because of the Father’s day celebration but it coincided with the Father’s day celebration hence it’s a wakeup call to fathers and the general public not to think of what they can acquire for themselves today but look into the future and build permanent legacies that would ensure a solid foundation for the next generation.
He said the song was for two reasons: fathers caring for children emotionally and not just providing money, and Ghanaians’ lifestyles.
“It has been principal that individuals like politicians fight for themselves alone, we live as if there is no tomorrow, as our lands are being destroyed and no one is responsible for that” he bemoaned.
“We are the fathers for the next generation to come so as citizens we are all victims of this problem”.
Rex Omar apologized to his fans for his long absence from the music scene.
“I’m sorry I kept my fans in silence for the past 10 years but it was for a good purpose”.
My music career was a calling but along the line I felt that I have drifted away so I needed that break to connect to my source, which is God and ask myself am I on the right path for what I’m doing and sit behind the scene to structure the Ghanaian music industry” Omar affirmed.
He stressed that his silence has nothing to do with the way Ghanaian music should go as people are speculating. According to him, Ghanaian music is still how it was and every musician is doing his or her best.
The new album has 15 tracks and features musicians such as Sarkodie, Okyeame Quarme, M.anifest, Trigmatic and Samini.
According to him, the marketers intend to market five singles before the album is released.
