Poki and Alewa
Gone are the days when ‘Poki’ and ‘Alewa’ were dominating the ice cream and candy industries in Ghana! I miss the fun times when I was living in Ghana! Anyway, Empire Entertainment is going to servce ‘Poki and ‘Alewa’ at the ‘Back In The Day’ concert which will take place on Dec. 6 at the Accra International Conference Centre in Ghana.
This is what Myjoyonline.com reported:
As Ghana gears up for this year’s ‘Back In The Day’ concert, organizers have disclosed that patrons, who will be attending will be served some of the 1990s favourite goodies including ‘Poki’ and ‘Alewa’.
The two goodies, one an ice cream – Poki – and the other a candy – Alewa – gained popularity in the 1990s and they were the favourites of kids and the youth of that era.
As the ‘Back In The Day’ concert gears up for a showdown on December 6 at the Accra International Conference Centre, organizers say the ‘Poki’ and ‘Alewa’ are part of the 1990s goodies that fans should expect on the day.
The concert, which celebrates hiplife and rap music of the 1990s, will be headlined by legendary American hiphop group, Naughty by Nature, and it will also feature performances from Reggie Rockstone, Obrafour and TH4Kwages.
CEO of Empire Entertainment, Kwabena Anokye Adisi, popularly known as Bola Ray, organizers of the concert, explained to Myjoyonline.com that Poki and Alewa were an integral part of life in the 1990s and as the show celebrates music of that era, “it is best to give fans a complete package on the night.”
The annual ‘Back In The Day’ concert, which started last year, powered by Empire Entertainment, reminisces some of the 1990s great artistes and tunes. It affords Ghanaians a unique opportunity to relive the glorious days of a young but vibrant hiplife music genre.
Last year’s event witnessed some of the biggest names in Ghanaian music in the 1990s, including Obrafour, VIP, Sony Achiba, Ex-Doe, and T-Blaze, mounting the stage to give off performances music lovers had missed for years.
Tickets for the show are going for GHc60 (Regular) and GHc100 (VIP).
